Sunderland, United Kingdom Penderels Trust Full time

**Job Reference: SUN15840MB3**

**Location**:Sunderland SR2, North East**

Please note: (Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, PART 1 Applies)

**About the Employer**

I am both the mother and employer for my young son who has a diagnosis of Autism with some learning difficulties. He is Asthmatic so does have the use of inhalers to manage this and may at times require a PA to prompt or administer this. We are seeking a PA to provide weekly support to encourage and allow my son to access activities within the local community whilst keeping him safe, this will provide his father and I a break from our caring role. My son spends time both at home with me and his dad at another address, so the place of work may be different, depending on where he stays on the days of his support sessions.. My son requires assistance with personal care as he still wears nappies, and the PA would also be required to offer prompt and support for him to maintain his personal hygiene. (Hand washing etc.:) My son is a very sociable child, who is very loving and has a good sense of humor. He has an abundance of energy and enjoys the outdoors. He will require a PA who is fit and willing to get involved as he particularly enjoys being outdoors and is extremely active. The PA would need to be always vigilant as my son is extremely vulnerable so will always require supervision. He does not understand risk or danger to himself when out and about. The PA we are seeking would need to be proactive and work closely with myself and his father when planning activities. The role is to befriend and assist him in accessing social activities such as swimming, going to parks and being outdoors, playing football to burn off built up energy. My son does not manage well in crowded or very noisy places or being around dogs, as he has allergies. The PA would have access to a specialized safety car seat which is transferrable, to ensure he remains safe when travelling in a vehicle. I am seeking a personal assistant who has a bubbly personality, an energetic person willing to get involved in his chosen activities. Someone who is chatty and able to communicate effectively. I require someone who is committed and motivated in wanting to make a difference and improve outcomes for my son and us as a family. You should be outgoing, energetic, friendly, patient, and enthusiastic, which will support him to develop his social skills and help build his trust and confidence.
