**In addition, the organisation may open new locations from which you may also be expected to work if these are within a 20 miles radius of the Headquarters. The specific detail of how much time is spent at each location will be agreed with your line manager as required.**

We work with unpaid carers who live in Hertfordshire, who care for someone who lives in the county, irrespective of the condition or illness of the person they support.
We believe that carers should be able to exercise a powerful collective voice and Have their Say to ensure high quality Health and Social Care services are available for themselves and for the people they care for in Hertfordshire.
**The Role**:
This is a great opportunity to develop our engagement with unpaid carers supporting adults with dementia or are older people. You would be:
- Co-ordinating and supporting the engagement of unpaid carers in the planning, monitoring and development of health and social care services in Hertfordshire
- Collating and representing the views and experiences of unpaid carers and ensuring that these are reported to the appropriate commissioners and service providers
- Increasing the number of unpaid carers who are supported by Carers in Hertfordshire
**The Responsibilities**:
- To work with carers to develop and maintain strong participative groups and effective engagement meetings to generate change.
- To identify guest speakers and recruit carers to attend engagement meetings and working groups which report to service commissioners and providers.
- To prepare written reports relating to carer engagement in particular projects for submission internally and to commissioners.
- To establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues in the voluntary and statutory sector.
- Deliver presentations, preparing and disseminating information, publicity material/ articles and website articles
- To ensure administration & databases are maintained and up to date, including record-keeping, providing agendas, meeting notes and reports.
- To keep up to date with changes in legislation, policy and practice related to carers, and to maintain a good general knowledge of developments in health and social care.
- To attend training and internal meetings and work with colleagues across all the Carers in Hertfordshire services.
- To operate within the terms of the Carers in Hertfordshire Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy and Code of Practice.
- Undertaking relevant tasks as may reasonably be required as a team member of Carers in Hertfordshire.
**The Requirements**:
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including good listening skills and the ability to engage and motivate unpaid carers with empathy and sensitivity.
- Recognise the need to work as a team, ask for help and support others.
- Ability to prioritise workloads, manage time effectively and work autonomously.
- Confident to talk with a wide variety of people within Health, Social Care and Education services at all levels of responsibility.
- An understanding of the principles in the Levels of Participation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Provide accurate and high quality internal and external information.
- Facilitate discussions and lead meetings in a structured and confident manner.
- Competent with a range of software programmes including Microsoft Office.
- Full UK Driving License and access to a vehicle that can be used for business purposes.
