As a Barclays Government Relations - Investment Bank, you will be working within the wider Investment Banking government relations team, helping bring focus on key policy reform agendas, primarily as it impacts our Investment Bank, both in the UK and Barclays Europe. Working closely with other teams, including the front office, you will help shape Barclays response to many of the policy changes and ensure that the MD, IB Government Relations, is aware of the key issues and advocacy messaging.

**What will you be **doing?**:
- Analysing political and public policy developments that affect Barclays Investment Bank, working on the advocacy strategy and campaign to influence the outcome
- Helping advise senior leadership on the impact of public policy developments and advocacy responses for the Investment Bank
- Forging robust relationships with relevant government departments across these key areas
- Understanding how broader policy and regulatory environment impacts the business and advising them. Where necessary, designing and leading advocacy on relevant policy issues
- Using excellent awareness of the broader team issues and helping to ensure cross-team coordination, collaboration and preventing any silos emerging
- Keeping abreast of wider market issues and developments, including commercial transactions, which may impact the Barclays advocacy strategy
- Building external relationships with HM Treasury and other Whitehall Departments; MPs and financial attaches; the European Commission, Council Reps and MEPs
- Working with internal departments, such as regulatory relations/policy; risk; treasury; SME’s in the business and where necessary, heads of business lines and departments
**What **we’re looking for**:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Passionate interest in politics and external relations
- Proven capabilities in project and process management
- Degree level qualifications or equivalent experience
**Skills that will help you in the role**:
- Experience of working in Parliament or Government
- Working Knowledge of political monitoring and understanding of the legislative process
- Past Experience of working in a professional communications environment
- Experience of briefing senior stakeholders
**Where will you **be working?**
In the heart of Canary Wharf, our headquarters at Churchill Place boasts onsite amenities such as; a gym, staff restaurant and deli bar, and is easily accessible by tube and bus links. With a population of around 5000 staff the atmosphere is second to none with a real buzz being created around the offices within.
