This is an exciting opportunity to join our Direct Payment team, which is part of our system and finance, within commissioning and quality services, at Calderdale Council. The Team supports the Adults and Childrens Social Care directorates and is responsible for ensuring that Direct Payments are set up for people that have assessed via social care and want to manage their personal budget.
The team’s aim is to develop and improve on the co-production and offer of Direct Payments making these more attractive for the individual requiring a service, dealing with the setup of Direct Payments, ensuring the individual understands what is required of them. Dealing with queries promptly and professionally from both internal, external colleagues and customers. Managing expectations from the Adult’s and Childrens directorate.
We are looking to recruit a professional, friendly, and customer-focused Direct Payment Officer to hep support the Direct Payment team. You will be required to promote and maintain a customer-focussed, high-quality service, and ensuring referrals received are dealt with in a timely manner.
You will meet with people and/or their representatives who are new to Direct Payment’s/Personal Health Budget’s and discuss all aspects of the scheme. Providing accurate and appropriate information and advice. Providing on-going support to individuals in receipt of a Direct payment Personal Health Budget.
You will undertake compliance reviews to ensure that Direct Payment Employers comply with the Direct Payment Agreement and where a breach of the agreement occurs investigate, ensure that appropriate actions are taken.
- Experience of dealing positively with challenging situations, either face to face or by phone.
- Be able to deal empathetically with customers in challenging situations to achieve a positive outcome.
- Knowledge of the principles of Direct Payments under the Care Act 2014, the Care and Support Statutory guidance and an understanding of how Direct Payments can be used to support independent living and other outcomes for individuals.
