University Hospital Southampton Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a full time Consultant based in the Nuclear Medicine Department of Southampton General Hospital. Candiates are expected to have adequate training and be fully accredited in Nuclear Medicine. Future development of the department may require cross site working with Hampshire Hospitals (HHFT)
The Nuclear Medicine team consists of 2 full time Consultants in Nuclear Medicine who have interchangeable skillsets and responsibilites and also individualised interests. We offer a variety of innovative diagnostic work (including PETCT),molecular radiotherapy and research work. We run specialist therapy clinics and support multiple tertiary level MDTs (thyroid, NET, paediatric oncology, GI, urology, lymphoma & lung). We provide research trials support and train undergraduates/postgraduates. You will have the opportunity to expand your own interests within a diverse and supportive environment.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Take a shared responsibility for the day to day running of the nuclear medicine department. This includes diagnostic nuclear medicine and PET CT scans, in/outpatient and day case molecular radiotherapies and research support.
- Engage directly with at least 2 MDTs according to expertise and interest.
- Be encouraged to develop new techniques/spheres of interest, either within the current UHS nuclear medicine practice or beyond it
- Supervise and educate Radiology Trainees, with the possibility of undergraduate involvement and/or teaching other specialties as needed
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Competence in all aspects of diagnostic nuclear medicine (including SPECT CT and PET CT procedures)
- Experience in most molecular radiotherapies (including prostate/NET/liver cancers and thyroid disorders)
- Experience in leading MDT meetings
- A proven record in exploring and developing novel interests
