**The Service**
We are looking to recruit a Peer Support Worker to join our Harm Reduction service in Dundee. Working alongside partners from Transform to support within supported accommodation services to help provide overdose awareness, support access to Injecting Equipment Provision (IEP), distribute naloxone, as well as developing initiatives to engage, mentor and coach people as part of their recovery through one to one and group activities.
The Peer Support Worker role will be to help support and connect people to the wider specialist and mainstream support available. This will include supporting access to specialist IEP and treatment services as well as other health and welfare support, including further peer support and mutual aid.
**The Role**
As a Peer Support Worker you will:
- Train on overdose prevention and the use and distribution of naloxone
- Provide support to people after a non-fatal overdose, linking people into existing specialist services, accompanying people to appointments, introducing people to mutual aid and supporting them to attend
- Also share their own lived experience of drug dependence and share the tools they use in their own recovery
- Provide training for staff, identify local networks for referral including Specialist IEP provision, Blood Borne Virus (BBV) testing and treatment, specialist drug and alcohol treatment services, Mutual aid and recovery groups, wider welfare and support services
**You Will**
- Have lived experience of drug and alcohol issues
- Have experience of supporting people and knowledge of harm reduction
- Be self-motivated and able to work under your own initiative.
