JG Pears are a long established, highly successful animal rendering operation at Low Marnham, Newark, Nottinghamshire. To enhance the competitive operation of the existing animal rendering plant, we have commissioned a CHP facility which provides process steam and electricity, with an electrical export connection. We are now looking for an Assistant Operator to join its existing Engineering team.

You will provide front line maintenance at the Combined Heat and Power facility, responsible for all aspects of the safe, compliant and efficient maintenance of the Power Station.

This is a 365, 24/7 operating facility and the shift pattern is 4 on 4 off 12-hour days and nights with 18 shifts off built in every 8 weeks.

**Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Shift Team Leader you will be responsible for assisting with the safe and reliable operation of the CHP facility at Low Marnham. The duties will involve:

- To monitor and operate the biomass CHP equipment as required via control system
- Maintain a safe, efficient and continuous plant operation
- Carry out regular walk-down and inspections throughout shift, checking condition of equipment and recording findings
- Report findings on management system
- Report findings to Shift Team Leader to ensure handover to following shift
- Adhere to Safe Operating Procedures
- Assist with the testing and treatment of boiler, cooling and other plant water systems
- Maintain any equipment as trained following the PPM system
- Assist maintenance department as and when required
- Maintain a clean, safe and orderly plant
- To understand and comply with all Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Legislation
- To work as a team and provide shift cover for other plant operators in the event of sickness or training

**Requirements**:

- Ideally you will be an experienced power plant operative with good health & safety knowledge and hold various plant licences.
- A good level of English at both verbal and written.
- Due to the location you must have your own transport.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to £34,000.00 per year
