- This post is for 37 hours per week, term time only.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Pastoral Support Officer.
Core Purpose
- Under the line management of the Director of Studies, to promote the attendance, well-being and academic mind-set for students to be able to successfully take part in their studies and achieve academic success.
- Support to Pupils
- Be the first point of contact for any pupil within the year group who needs support
- Work with students on a small group basis who are facing a particular barrier to their education
- Observe students in lessons or at social times to assist with student support
- Support students with metacognitive strategies to support their future learning and well-being
- Create and design, or organise outside programmes of support that address the needs of groups of students
- Triangulate support through liaison with parents and teachers
- To liaise with vulnerable students’ parents, carers, children’s’ services and other external agencies with regard to confidential, sensitive or complex issues
- To act as a qualified first aider
- To oversee ‘in year’ admissions for new students. This will include liaising with the member of staff responsible for admissions, meeting students and their families and in conjunction with key staff organising timetabling and setting
- Support new students with a settling in process Support to the Director of Studies
- To provide information and reports on student’s attendance, well-being and academic mind-set.
- To collaboratively support students with high pastoral needs
- Daily communication with regards to student progress and well-being matters
- Support to the School Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people
- Be aware of, and comply with, policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, child protection, health, safety, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
- Be aware of, support and ensure equal opportunities for all
- Contribute to the overall work/ethos/aims of the school
- Appreciate and support the role of other professionals
- Attend and participate in relevant meetings and school events as required
- Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
- Assist with pupil needs as appropriate
- Maintain individual student records ensuring that they are kept up to date
- To comply with any other reasonable school request.
- First Aid as required - training will be provided.
