**Local Intelligence Researcher, North Wales Police, Salary £25,758 to £27,690**
This role including training will be office based in St. Asaph Divisional Headquarters.

The overall purpose of the role is to provide research to Intelligence Analysts and Local Intelligence Officers, and provide resilience in these areas of work.
You will act as a point of expertise for Intelligence research and development within the division playing a key part to the team. You will be required to communicate your findings of research to a range of audiences across the board.
**Here are some of the accountabilities of the Local Intelligence Researcher**:
- To scan and evaluate information and intelligence from a wide range of computerised databases, and open and closed information sources, utilising mixed method research including single approach and mixed approach designs.
- To contribute towards the production of high quality strategic and tactical products in line with the NIM to inform management, and Tasking and Coordination groups, in order to contribute to the development of strategic and tactical decision making.
- Produce research work that critically engages with current practices and policing priorities.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of MOPI (Management of Police Information), and understand the use of handling codes and protective marking scheme relevant for the dissemination of intelligence.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of NIM (National Intelligence Model), and where the role of the researcher fits into this model.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of current legislation relevant to the role of the researcher, for example RIPA (Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000) in relation to the acquisition of telecoms data.
- Develop an understanding of Law Enforcement tactics and investigation practices.
- Compile internal divisional reports on current active criminals and crime patterns. Prepare Intelligence Bulletins in order to brief and assist operational officers.
**What will I need to be considered for this Local Intelligence Researcher?**
- NVQ Level III or equivalent relevant qualifications and experience
- Proven research skills preferably obtained within an intelligence environment.
- Good organisational skills, together with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must possess good interpersonal skills, highly self-motivated and used to working on your own initiative and as part of a team.
- Proven ability to work as an effective member of a team.
- Competent use of various IT systems.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Access and Windows NT.
