We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic professional to join our Health and Safety Team as a Health and Safety Coordinator.
To ensure that Provide Community has a managed and coordinated approach to the implementation of health and safety legislation providing a safe environment for staff, patients, residents, contractors, visitors and any users of Provide Community sites.
To work with the Health, Safety, Fire and Security Manager in all duties relating to health and safety and the Estates Compliance Manager across the Provide Community Group to ensure proactive and reactive safety management arrangements are supported.
The ideal individual for this post will ideally have a Health and Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Certificate) or a willingness to undertake. They should also be registered with a relevant professional body such as IOSH and/or IIRSM and have a proven track record advising on Health and Safety in a large complex organisation (preferably healthcare) or in process of obtaining.
The individual must be able to work autonomously to support clinical and corporate services in identifying realistic solutions to health and safety issues and must have some demonstrable experience in training, mentoring and directly supervising other staff. Operational Management
- Contribute to the overall delivery and development of the health and safety strategy across Provide Community.
- Develop a health and safety site inspection and robust schedule for undertaking site inspections across Provide Community in conjunction with the Compliance Manager. Where deficiencies are found through the audits, the respective local managers are informed and action plans formulated to rectify areas of non-compliance.
- Develop with the Health Safety, Fire and Security Manager H&S forum and Health and Safety Champions across Provide Group.
- Assist local managers to develop procedures that support effective health safety and risk management for their respective areas of control.
- Support operational managers to enable them to undertake their responsibilities in respect of health, safety and risk issues
- To report RIDDOR incidents to the Health and Safety Executive and assist service managers to investigate appropriately, as required.
- The post holder will work directly with multidisciplinary staff at various levels, to support staff through Health and Safety, DSE, Manual Handling and COSHH assessment process and provide support to departments to maintain the COSHH risk assessments and provide advice to maintain safe storage.
- To support and provide cover for the Health, Safety, Fire and Security Manager as required
- Assist with the production, monitoring and review, and the implementation of Health and safety Policies and Procedures throughout Provide Community.
- The logging of risks to health and safety on the corporate risk register and local risk register ensuring action plans are in place to mitigate gaps in control and assurance and that regular review takes place.
- Monitor Lone worker devices and training/support for staff using the operation of the lone worker devices.
- To design and deliver training to individuals and groups of staff on topics relevant to specialist area, e.g. Health & Safety Induction, Health & Safety General Awareness, IOSH Managing Safely, DSE and COSHH, manual handling, this list is not exhaustive.
