**Key accountabilities of the role**:

- Develop risk strategy to continually mature and enhance risk management to support BG to operate within risk appetite, minimising regulatory, operational and reputational exposure, with a focus on regulatory compliance, customer risk, controls framework, breach process, customer remediation treatments, governance, reporting and culture.
- Build out a forward looking risk identification strategy to support business teams to identify and manage emerging/horizon risks and potential blind spots, introducing appropriate tools and approaches as required, such as data analytics and scenario analysis.
- Support business units to manage, monitor and evidence good customer outcomes through effective use of data which drives actionable insights into the customer experience, with a particular focus on vulnerable customers.
- Research internally and externally to identify and develop innovative approaches to risk management, regulatory compliance and customer experience, including data analytics, AI and other technology solutions, with a view to improving outcomes and increasing effectiveness and efficiency.
- Oversee the development of platform transition controls, monitoring these and carrying out targeted adequacy and effectiveness testing and other assurance activity where required
- Plan and lead the execution of ad hoc ‘deep dive’ and trouble-shooting activity, using insight to drive out improvements in operational teams and working in partnership to support colleagues to manage specific challenges or enhance their risk management, compliance processes and mitigation plans

**Essential Skills & Experience Required**:

- Proven success at implementing best practice, robust and sustainable risk management and control frameworks within a complex organisation
- Deep knowledge of best practice risk management & governance frameworks relevant to operational, regulatory and conduct risk
- Deep understanding of and expertise in the identification and management of operational, conduct and regulatory risk
- Track record of influencing senior stakeholders and uplifting risk management and regulatory compliance capabilities across organisational lines
- Professional legal, risk or audit qualification preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to manage relationships, constructively challenge and influence stakeholders
- Skilled Communicator, able to engage at senior level and positively influence and motivate others
- Advanced problem solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyse complex information and form judgements on appropriate actions.
