**About the job role**
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Social Work Service at St Joseph’s Hospice in the role as Welfare Benefits Lead. You will work as part of committed and creative team, which offers responsive social care interventions and support to people with specialist palliative and end life care needs. The Welfare Benefits post-holder provides a highly specialist service of welfare benefits expertise, advice, advocacy, practical assistance and signposting to patients, carers and their families to maximize their income. The post-holder also trains, supervises and provides caseload management to a small, committed team of Welfare Benefits volunteers.
**About you**:
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience of overseeing welfare benefits staff or volunteers, and in supporting their training, caseload management, supervision and learning.
- Is a skilled communicator in emotionally challenging situations, using tact and empathy to elicit and communicate complex information
- The job is based at St Joseph’s Hospice, however some local travel is essential. Support and training will be provided in all aspects of the job by the hospice. The post holder will be accountable to the Social Work Manager.
