One role will have line management responsibility of BFMC vessel Commanders and the Specialist Operations Team whilst the other will have line management responsibility of the Operational Planning Team and the Maritime Command Centre.
**Responsibilities**
The G7 posts will hold responsibility for:
- Ensuring that effective command and control structures are in place for the delivery of successful maritime operations.
- Providing strategic direction to develop future stakeholder engagement and to direct operational planning.
- Operational capability delivery, business planning, and budget and risk management.
- Developing processes in the 24/7 Maritime Control Centre, to ensure that effective command and control, response plans and contingencies and intelligence flows are provided as the need arises to assist in the decision-making process at Tactical and Strategic Command level.
- Building capability - effectively coaching and mentoring, both at an individual and team level, to embed a culture of high performance and effectiveness.
- Directing Border Force Maritime Command (BFMC) response to the challenge posed to small boats in the Southeast, including liaising with HM Coastguard and other relevant partners.
- Undertaking the role of on call Senior Duty Officer for Maritime Command.
- Acting as the principal interface with operational colleagues in the National Crime Agency, Clandestine Channel Threat Command (CCTC), Immigration Enforcement and Border Force (BF) Intelligence Directorates.
- Working collaboratively with key partners within Border Force, the wider Home Office and other government partners, including the Joint Maritime Operations Coordination Centre.
- Overseeing the planning, co-ordination, and strategic and operational deployment of BF Maritime capabilities.
- Deputising for the Head of Maritime Command at senior external meetings.
- Enhancing the diversity and inclusion capability of the workforce taking into consideration the needs of different groups, to raise standards and drive delivery.
- Managing systemic transformation & culture change by integrating Wellbeing and Welfare approaches into people and organisation strategies.
Please note these vacancies can only be offered as a full-time role as the strategic delivery of complex maritime operations can be intense requiring consistency that cannot be done part time or via job share.
**Person specification**:
We are looking for two Grade 7 Managers to join the Border Force Maritime Command Senior Leadership Team, who:
- Can lead and inspire officers based in multiple office locations, or work-remotely, at sea or in regional ports.
- Have experience in undertaking the Strategic lead officer role in the running of maritime or complex operations involving serious organised crime.
- Are experienced in managing large specialist teams.
- Are flexible, adaptive, and creative in solving problems and positive when dealing with change.
- Confidently deal with colleagues, members of the public and external stakeholders.
- Have an ability to manage potentially difficult and challenging situations that can arise 24/7.
- Can maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and personal and professional standards.
- Are committed to continuous personal and business improvement.
- Can effectively organise and plan operational deployments.
- Are professional and customer focused.
- Think in an objective and analytical manner.
- Are experienced in offering constructive feedback and producing performance improvement plans.
**Essential criteria**
- Experience of identifying, assessing, and managing risk within a Law Enforcement/ National Security environment.
- Expertise in the utilisation of intelligence products to inform/support operational activity and the tools/systems to deliver this.
- Experience of leading multiple projects or Programmes.
- Knowledge of International partnership work.
- Experience of leading Investigations and Operational Planning.
- Proven ability to influence and negotiate with a range of internal and external stakeholders at senior levels in challenging circumstances.
