Engagement Officer

We are looking for someone who has the energy, enthusiasm and commitment to engagement. The role requires an experienced and competent professional with a developed skill set in engagement and consultation. The individual will be able to provide professional advice to managers, clinicians and other staff on a broad range of engagement issues.

This individual will plan and deliver engagement activities to provide a responsive service to staff and external stakeholders. This role involves working autonomously and prioritising your workload to ensure that all urgent matters are actioned.

A flexible approach to work is necessary and the post holder will be required to attend meetings outside of normal working hours when necessary.

The post holder will work as part of a small team of committed, enthusiastic professionals and will require the post holder to act with a degree of autonomy to:
support the Engagement Manager and wider team in taking forward consultation and engagement exercises as part of our ‘A Healthier Mid and West Wales’ strategy

co-ordinate engagement activity, with a focus on Pembrokeshire

provide practical support and expertise around engagement

deliver engagement by working with staff across the organisation

contribute to increasing understanding and organisational capacity of engagement with staff and stakeholders to help deliver the Health Board’s engagement agenda

experience of working in partnership with colleagues across the statutory sector, third sector and private sector

make full use of traditional and new methods of engagement and involvement to engage patients, carers, staff, stakeholders, media and the public in designing and delivering services, plans and strategies.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
**Four main hospitals**: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
**Seven community hospitals**: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
