We are recruiting a Policy Advisor to join the Housing Supply and Markets Division to support our work delivering the Government’s housing supply strategy, including our ambition to deliver 300,000 homes a year in England and wider work to ensure we have a diverse and competitive housebuilding market that works for everyone.
**Job description**:
We are recruiting an HEO to a fast-paced and rewarding role where you will play a key role in supporting Ministers’ objectives on housing supply and the housebuilding market.
The postholder will:
- Support Ministers and senior officials by drafting high-quality advice and briefings on the government’s housing supply strategy.
- Contribute to the development and design of the Government’s housing supply work, developing and assessing the options, and reach decisions on key policy questions.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues across the department, including private office, analysts and relevant policy leads.
- Gather and analyse data, evidence and stakeholder insight to understand opportunities and challenges for increasing housing supply.

- Excellent ability to get up to speed quickly on diverse policy areas
- Ability to work at pace amidst ambiguity
- Strong analytical skills, including ability to use data and evidence to understand what drives a problem and to develop solutions
- Resilience and calmness under pressure when dealing with changing priorities and fast-moving areas of work
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex issues and options in a clear, succinct and evidenced way
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships and confident working directly with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
