**SEND Case Officer Reviews**
**Permanent**
**Full-time, 36.5 hours per week (hybrid working)**
Do you want to make a difference for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families?
Birmingham’s SEND services have been growing as part of the council’s long-term commitment to children, young people and their families and our improvements have recently been recognised by Ofsted. We’re looking for motivated people to join our teams and make a meaningful impact in this priority area.
You will be the named officer for children and young people with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan working within the legislative framework of the Children and Families Act 2014. Using your experience of working with children, young people, families, and professionals, including schools and settings, you will provide advice and guidance regarding annual reviews of EHC plan, ensuring that statutory and local processes and timescales are adhered to.
With your experience of reviewing professional advice and report writing, you will make sure that EHC plans reflect the special educational needs of our children and young people, and the provision they require to achieve their aspirations throughout the educational journey. Using your skills in communication and your person-centred approach to casework, you will ensure the focus is always the child and young person and everyone understands the processes and decisions made.
To be part of this dynamic team and to play your part in our continued journey to delivering improved outcomes for Birmingham’s children, young people and their families, please consider whether your skills and experience can further strengthen the service.
Some of the Review Teams focus on the support for children up to and including those aged 13 years whilst the other teams, focus on the support for children and young people aged 14 and above. If you feel your experience and knowledge fits better with one of these cohorts, please include this in your supporting statement.
A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be undertaken.
Proof of Right to work in the UK will be required for all applicants in accordance with UK Home Office requirements, before any employment offer can be confirmed.
