The FCA is a global regulator, supporting open markets through shaping the international regulatory agenda. The International Division leads our strategy for international engagement, working collaboratively across the FCA to ensure the organisation delivers on its international priorities.

The Global Strategy and Engagement Team sets, advises and delivers on the FCA’s strategic engagement with non-European authorities and jurisdictions. It enhances the FCA’s capacity to meet its statutory and strategic objectives through high-quality international engagement, using a range of influencing tools and techniques.

What will you be doing?
- Supporting the Manager and leadership of the Global Strategy and Engagement Team, particularly through the line management of 3 Associates
- Lead work to shape and prioritise the FCA’s strategic engagement with authorities in the Americas region as well as the International Division’s work on retail policy
- Leading a small team in the analysis of key policy and political developments in priority jurisdictions, notably the US, and providing advice on strategic, policy, operational and supervisory challenges arising
- Holding bilateral relationships with key counterparts in the Americas region, as well as authorities responsible for the regulation & supervision of retail activities. Participating in global standard-setting bodies that pertain to retail policymaking
- Working with the team to set creative strategy and engagement plans for priority jurisdictions, working closely with colleagues across the FCA to ensure a coordinated and considered approach
- Advising and supporting FCA Executive Directors and senior leadership in their engagement with key international partners - both virtually and in-person, which may require international travel. This will include working closely with HM Treasury and the Bank of England to support combined engagement opportunities, particularly senior Financial Dialogues, through to working-level led engagement

- Work in a dynamic and changing environment with opportunities for growth;
- Work across multiple regulatory areas and workstreams with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring we take account of international examples and evidence in our decision-making

Minimum
- Prior experience of international relations, and advising and influencing internal and external stakeholders
- Prior experience of policy development, supervision or enforcement in relation to financial services
- Prior experience of coaching and guiding junior colleagues

Essential

- Proven ability to deliver through others, motivating and supporting colleagues across multiple projects
- Assured strategic approach - able to analyse complex issues, making excellent judgements and proposals to build a long-term plan. Comfortable working with incomplete information
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex issues succinctly and persuasively, adapted to the audience
- Identifies and manages key stakeholders, building rapport and constructive long-term relationships. Leading and planning engagement with senior stakeholders
- Project management experience, with excellent self-management and organisational skills, delivering multiple tasks under pressure
- Ability to work proactively, identifying opportunities and risks and devising strategies to seize or mitigate them
- Strong political acumen and curiosity re
