Crawley, United Kingdom Adolescent Dogs Ltd Full time

Adolescent Dogs is a large family run company that has been running successfully for 16 years. We have a large team of friendly trainers, who all strive to help dog owners across the UK to have better behaved family dogs.

Our **Intern** **Programme** offers you the opportunity to become part of our friendly team of dog trainers in Surrey and West Sussex

We provide full training for you to be able to come on board with us as a **residential trainer**, **boarding dogs in your home.**
- A passion for training dogs using positive, reward based training methods
- Work experience with dogs (training your own dog to a high level, helping in classes, working with rescue dogs, veterinary etc)
- A minimum of a Diploma in Dog Psychology / Animal Behaviour / Animal Care (or currently working towards one)
- Training with your own dog (agility, classes, scentwork, obedience etc)
- Willing to continue CPD (Continued Professional Development) attending seminars and courses each year
- **Ability to board dogs in your home (a boarding license may be required depending on your local council)**:

- Must be hard working, well organised, reliable, have good customer service skills, good written skills, be naturally confident, have a clean driving license and your own car

**The Intern Programme involves**:

- Train alongside one of our trainers at least 3 days per week (Guildford, Ewhurst, Worthing, Winchester, Crawley). Usually 1 to 2 hours each day.

- You'll be assigned a Senior level trainer as a Mentor who will help you with practical training and communication with clients
- The intern programme takes around 2 to 6 months depending on the individual. Some learn faster than others. Once confident with the syllabus, you'll be promoted to 'Trainee', earning £16k per year, quickly progressing to Junior level (£23k to 35k per year), with the scope to progress to our highest level (£40k to £60k per year)/
- You'll gain access to our Online Training Academy, so you can work your way through our core training syllabus when you're not training here with us

**Basic Job Requirements**
- Obtain pet business insurance
- Register as self employed (this means your work is more flexible, and you get paid more)
- Board 2 to 3 dogs in your home (once trained)
- Train each dog on and off throughout each day
- Attend Thursday training days in Ewhurst (10.30am to 12.30pm)
- Send photos & updates to your clients through Whatsapp daily
- Meet with senior trainers 2 to 3 times a week to get video footage of each dog in training and to get support with your training
- Provide each client with 2 owner training lessons
- Provide each client with unlimited follow up lessons for up to 6 weeks if they need it
- Send training notes to the client after the stay

This is a very rewarding job and offers lots of flexibility, but equally, it's hard work

You will need to ensure your dog is being given the best care and training, whilst also looking after your clients needs with updates.
