Oliver Kay have been established for over 30 years, supplying fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy, and dry store ingredients each day, directly to chefs and professional kitchens.

We have an opportunity within our highly efficient Transport Department.

As part of our team, you’ll fill an essential role in helping us achieve our targets by delivering the right products to our Customers on time.

In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring and overseeing the day to day operation and compliance of the Transport department whilst ensuring employees are motivated, working safely towards a common goal and maximising productivity.

**Accountabilities**:

- Ensure all daily/weekly/monthly KPI’s are monitored and achieved or exceeded through utilisation and interpretation of relevant data.
- Manage and coach individuals to perform to their maximum potential through a balanced approach of recognition and managing performance against agreed KPI’s.
- Manage all resources including commercial vehicles, cages, pallets and sack barrows.
- Allocate work in a consistent manner in line with individual / team capability and legal driving hours to achieve targets.
- Manage and deliver briefings to the team to ensure they are aware of, and adhere to all Company messages, policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with individuals at all levels including those on different shifts and in different departments
- Promote and manage all QHSE, Fleet and Sustainability standards, focussing on team safety and wellbeing in accordance with the relevant policies. This includes PPE, Vehicle checks, CV servicing and MOT’s, VOR’s, Contractor, hygiene, temperature checks,pest control, accidents and near misses.
- Conduct quality investigations when required to understand and establish root causes to take corrective and preventative action or escalate where necessary.
- Ensure Customer stock is handled correctly to reduce damage and ensure cost and customer availability KPI’s are met.
- Review and implement opportunities for continuous improvement by collaboratively working and seeking feedback from own team and related teams.
- Ensure all existing and new employees are trained to Company standards with all relevant documents completed and submitted.
- Full compliance and completion of induction and probationary process for all new recruits.
- Set clear expectations including KPI, safety and team behaviours to all direct reports by setting annual objectives. Hold regular one to ones to review objectives and perform end of year appraisal.
- Seek appropriate advice when necessary from HR Representatives.
- Full compliance of the agency worker process, including recruitment through appropriate PSL agencies, full training and completion of relevant agency documentation.
- Accurately update relevant systems such as Optac, Microlise, Paragon, Driver App, One Source and Risk Console in a timely manner. This will include overtime management, accurate completion of payroll submissions and accident investigation documentation.

**Essential skills**:

- Good level of verbal and written English and numeracy skills.
- Proficient in IT and ability to use Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.
- Experience of a Fast moving Transport environment, preferably from a multi-drop, multi-temperature foodservice business.
- Full understanding of Transport legislation.
- Evidence of effective management experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to manage conflicting deadlines and able to prioritise.
- Ability to plan workload for themselves and others effectively.
- Evidence of managing and driving change, in situations constantly requiring adaptation.
- Evidence of creative and innovative thinking.
- Solid judgement and influencing skills to provide pace to get things delivered.

**Hours**

48+ hours per week / 5 over 7 days. Alternate rest day Monday & Tuesday (Negotiable)
- Week 1: Tuesday to Saturday
- Week 2: Monday, Wednesday to Saturday
- Weekdays: 10:00 - 20:00 (Flexible)
- Saturdays: 08:00 - 18:00 (Flexible)
