Car Park Assistant
This role is all about giving everyone a warm and well-informed welcome as they arrive in our busy National Trust car park. The Car Park Assistant will be on hand to make sure that people who might never have visited before can understand the layout of the arboretum and all that it has to offer them. From that first moment of a friendly greeting to the helpful sharing of practical information, you’ll be helping to give everyone an enjoyable and memorable day out.
This role is an hourly paid, fixed term role. Wherever possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. We’d give you as much notice of this as possible.
This role will be primarily weekend working, to support our busy operational periods during autumn and Christmas. We would look for there to be some availability during school holidays, including October Half Term and Christmas. You would be working alongside other Car Park Assistants in this role, as part of the rota which we will provide in advance. The rota may involve working both weekend days.
What it's like to work here:Winkworth Arboretum enjoys panoramic vistas of Autumn Colour from September through to November before the excitement of Christmas. Autumn is our busiest time of year where we need all hands on deck to support our busy operations. We then continue the busy period into December to welcome visitors for festive walks and enjoyable trails. We're looking to recruit a small team to support us in our car park, helping visitors find a space, make their way to visitor welcome and answering any questions they might have. This role will be visitor facing but predominately will be helping keep our car park operations working successfully. You'll be part of a wider team helping to welcome visitors through this period, reporting to the Duty Manager.
What you'll be doing:You’ll be working outside, meeting and greeting people as the arrive, helping to show them where to park. You'll help to keep the car park and surrounding area neat and tidy, and you’ll be friendly and helpful to everyone you come across.
You’ll be responsible for answering all manner of questions and making sure visitors can find everything they need for their visit. When interacting with our customers, you’ll inform them of the amazing work we are doing and what their money is funding, promoting local projects or promoting our cause.
As this is an outdoors role, you'll need to be comfortable working in all weather conditions.
You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.

- well-organised and adaptable
