Support the development and delivery of the Trusts communications and recruitment strategies Handle technical and complex information translating it into plain English for multiple audiences including use by news media organisations Support communications activity for the Trusts recruitment strategy Proactively seek out good news across the Trust and work with staff at all levels to create opportunities to celebrate achievement and success Write and produce high quality communications material suitable for a range of audiences including briefings, press releases, newsletters, bulletins and digital content Develop networks of contacts within and beyond the Trust to generate information for inclusion in staff newsletters, briefing materials and media releases In conjunction with the Trusts Communications Team, work with local, national and professional news media to manage proactive and reactive issues, including interpreting and analysing situations and providing a range of considered options for response that take into account legalities, patient confidentiality, openness and public reputation of the organisation Undertake evaluation of internal and external communications to continually enhance and develop mechanisms that are fit for purpose and meet staff and stakeholder needs Be a communications champion for the Trust and give presentations and training to other staff to help raise skills throughout the Trust Work collaboratively with other members of the Communications Team to jointly deliver projects and provide cover for other duties Act as a guardian of the NHS and Trusts corporate identity guidelines and policies. Ensure that information released through the Communications Department is compliant with Caldicott/confidentiality guidelines and policies, and in line with departmental procedures and protocols Represent the communications function at project meetings and/or committees Establish groups to support the delivery of communications within the Trust and externally Work effectively with and brief professional colleagues and contractors, including design, print, information technology, web developers, photographers, videographers, media trainers, etc. Assess and respond effectively to incidental request for information from members of the public, patients, and carers, and ensure they are dealt with effectively and in an empathetic manner Advise on the appropriate format to communicate with particular audiences, ie Braille, community languages and taking into account the accessibility of information and communications Work with the Communications Team to ensure that an appropriate bank of photography is gathered and maintained with relevant consents gathered and catalogued
