You will be working 37.5 hours a week at Arbury Court, where we offer a range of care settings for male patients with personality disorder and/or mental illness. You will provide care for adults with severe and enduring mental health needs, supporting themto be as independent as possible, with the long-term aim of people being able to take control of their lives.
Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will support the service in delivering structured activities and assisting in the planning for individual and group therapeutic interventions. You will build one-to-one rapports with serviceusers to encourage participation in activities and empower recovery.
As an Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will contribute to the assessment, monitoring, evaluation, and modification of structured activities in order to measure progression and ensure effectiveness.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be supported regionally and will have access to a variety of training and online courses to support your career development and growth.
With a strong emphasis on teamwork, you'll receive support from a regional network of healthcare professionals and enjoy access to a variety of online and CPD training courses to support you reach your career goals.
**Your responsibilities**:
- The preparation and maintenance of designated therapeutic environments.
- To assist Occupational Therapists, Nurses and other MDT staff in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individual care plans.
- Actively implement evidence-based practice.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including care notes, written reports and discharge summaries in accordance with hospital and professional standard.
- To provide technical support and instruction to patients engaging in creative and vocational activities as therapeutic interventions
- To work within the guidelines and standards set by the College of Occupational Therapists and the British Association of Occupational Therapists
- To comply with Health and Safety legislation, to maintain a safe working environment for service users and staff through the use of local and departmental polices.
- To complete all necessary pre and post documentation and checks if using Hospital transport, and the careful and attentive use of those vehicles.
- To participate and work as a member of OT and Education Team, contributing to decisions with regards to service users programmes and communicating outcomes of assessments. This will include attendance at the Team meeting.
- Complete full assessments, plan, implement intervention and evaluate outcomes as per department care-pathway, enabling the patient in areas of self-maintenance, productivity, and leisure.
**To be successful in this role, you will need**:
- Registered OT with Dip COT qualification or degree
- Experience working with people with neurological needs
- Evidence of fieldwork and or employment within the Rehabilitation field of Psychiatry.
- Strong knowledge of best practices within a similar setting
- Knowledge and practical experience of the Occupational Therapy process in mental health or neurological settings
- Experience, knowledge and skill in supervising OT staff and students
- Full UK Driving Licence
