You will be working 37.5 hours a week in Arbury Court where we provide care and treatment for women in differing levels of security, enabling clear care pathways and a positive patient experience.
Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will support the service in delivering structured activities and assisting in the planning for individual and group therapeutic interventions. You will build one-to-one rapports with serviceusers to encourage participation in activities and empower recovery.
As an Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will contribute to the assessment, monitoring, evaluation, and modification of structured activities in order to measure progression and ensure effectiveness.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be supported regionally and will have access to a variety of training and online courses to support your career development and growth.
With a strong emphasis on teamwork, you'll receive support from a regional network of healthcare professionals and enjoy access to a variety of online and CPD training courses to support you reach your career goals.
**Your responsibilities**:
- The preparation and maintenance of designated therapeutic environments.
- To assist Occupational Therapists, Nurses and other MDT staff in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individual care plans.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including care notes, written reports and discharge summaries in accordance with hospital and professional standard.
- Under supervision and direction of an identified Occupational Therapist, provide individual or group activities for an identified patient group.
- To be involved in the training and development of new members of the team alongside the qualified occupational therapists
- Establish effective communication with patients and their cares, all staff and other agencies.
- Implement and develop evidence-based therapeutic activities to aid mental health recovery
- To independently use professional reasoning skills with regard to service user care, therefore contributing to their proposed treatment.
- Complete full assessments, plan, implement intervention and evaluate outcomes as per department care-pathway, enabling the patient in areas of self-maintenance, productivity, and leisure.
**To be successful in this role, you will need**:
- Registered OT with Dip COT qualification or degree
- Experience working with people with neurological needs
- Evidence of fieldwork and or employment within the Rehabilitation field of Psychiatry.
- Experience in working with Forensic patients.
- Strong knowledge of best practices within a similar setting
- Knowledge and practical experience of the Occupational Therapy process in mental health or neurological settings
- Experience, knowledge and skill in supervising OT staff and students
