We are seeking a highly motivated individual with experience of working in a public sector procurement environment.

You will be based in a busy office, confident in managing your own workload and providing professional support to senior colleagues and a service to diverse users across the University. You will be committed to providing excellent service to the highest standards. You will understand the role of procurement within the University but can expect to be involved in a variety of external interactions as well.

The role requires excellent organisational and communication skills as well as experience of tendering in the Public Sector, sound skills to manage tenders and projects, and strong interpersonal abilities. You will be a good communicator and ‘people person’ able to deal with colleagues in a firm but tactful manner building rapport and supporting successful project teams. You will be very well organized and IT literate.

You will be expected to work within the University’s Financial Regulations, Procedures and Purchasing Policy, as well as having a working knowledge and experience of using the Public Contract Regulations. You should understand the role of procurement in delivering value, managing risk and supporting colleagues to do this. You will be either MCIPS qualified or have equivalent relevant experience/qualifications and be willing to work towards achieving MCIPS qualification. You will ideally have experience of driving the delivery of social value outcomes through the tender process.

You will work under the direction of a senior colleague but will be responsible for your own work plan, as well as co-ordinating the work of junior colleagues. You will be proactive in identifying opportunities within your areas of responsibility to improve contract and supplier management, ensuring that these meet the University’s core goals of world class research, outstanding student experience and social responsibility.

You will be able to work with minimum supervision, whilst also being an effective team member, organised, accurate, numerate and familiar with finance systems. You will possess a detailed working knowledge and experience of the MS Office suite.
