Our client is recruiting for an Extra Care officer to work at their extra care scheme in Barrow.

Station View provides specially designed accommodation to support people over the age of 55, who require care and support, but who wish to retain their independence in a home of their own. Residents are provided with a safe living environment which alsoenables them to make friends and socialise in the communal areas of the scheme.

The Extra Care Officer will assist in the day-to-day management of the building & the services provided and to provide an efficient, effective & responsive service to their residents.

**DBS**

**As an Extra Care Officer, a typical week might include**:

- All aspects of scheme management such as front line reception service and responding to enquiries
- Supporting with the safety and wellbeing of residents at all times including monitoring the security of the building, dealing with visitors, health and safety compliance
- Reporting repairs or faults to equipment to the Contact Centre
- Contributing to the development of the wellbeing service or informal support they will offer residents as they stop formal support planning and make the transition from Supporting People
- Maintaining and updating all records in line with our client’s policies and procedures such as:

- CRM
- Repairs
- Servicing and Inspections
- Fire Alarm Tests
- Accidents and Health & Safety matters
- Asset register including inventories of all furniture and equipment
- Housing & tenancy management Support the Extra Care Manager in the allocation and void management processes at each stage and attend allocations panel meetings as required.
- Respond to initial housing management enquiries, including rent, low level ASB
- Supporting a programme of social activities to promote health & wellbeing
- General administration as well as compliance testing for:

- fire alarm tests
- legionella
- water temperature
- PEEPS
- pull cord testing for all sites

**The must haves**
- Experience of working with vulnerable or people with support needs in a permanent or voluntary capacity with n awareness of older peoples needs
- Experience of dealing with members of the public, both in person and by telephone
- Experience of record keeping with an understanding of and commitment to confidentiality issues
- Understanding of Safeguarding
- Ability to recognise and understand professional boundaries
- Good IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office & Excel
- Good level of verbal & written communication skills
- Ability to work on own initiative

**The added extras**
- Experience of working with statutory or voluntary agencies in the care/or housing sector
- Experience of wellbeing or support planning or assessing requirements
- Previous housing management experience
- Trained in basic first aid or have the willingness to undertake training
- Commercial awareness
- Awareness of welfare and housing benefits as well as health & safety legislation
- Access to car for work with valid driving licence
- Willingness to travel - to attend meetings as and when required
- Must be prepared to respond to emergencies at any time when on site

When you’re not working from site, they’ll encourage you to work from home as their new way forward. They’ll provide you with the equipment and software that you’ll need for the purpose of your role however it will be your responsibility to have an appropriatespace to work from as well as a suitable broadband connection/provider.

Should you wish to work occasionally from any of their regional offices, you may do so on a hot desk basis which will need to be arranged via their online booking system.

**Salary**

The spot salary for this post is £20,867 per annum for applicants who fully meet the requirements of the post. Applicants, who do not meet all of the requirements of the post, will start 5% or 10% below the spot salary.
