Deputy Head of School

Joining us as Deputy Head of School, you will ensure that current and future students receive a first-class experience that enables them to progress and attain their qualifications, developing long-lasting learning and employability skills.
The role will combine leadership and management of several curriculum areas with being a member of the management team within the School and a wider operational role for the College. You will be responsible for the effective management of VTS delivery, including oversight of recruitment, enrolment, retention, achievement and liaise with the Head of School linked to budgeting, performance and partnership management. You will provide strategic leadership, operational delivery and direction to the planning and development of provision of a high standard that meets the needs of various funding bodies. You will have reporting management of seven Team Leaders who will take responsibility for discrete sections of the School’s delivery.
We’d like our Deputy Head of School to hold relevant professional qualifications as well as a teaching qualification such as a PGCE, DTLSS or DET. You’ll have proven experience of effective teamwork, both as the leader of a team of staff and as part of a team, including managing under-performance, and have the leadership skill set of being able to identify where intervention is needed, developing a plan to secure improvement and achieving the target outcome.
With excellent written and verbal communication skills, you will set and achieve high professional standards in everything that you do - the proven, or potential ability to demonstrate the behaviours and conduct expected of a College leader and manager. You will have a strong awareness of future developments that influence the curriculum, in particular the needs of the local and regional economy, and have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of national standards, and what excellent curriculum provision and outcomes look like.
