Here at South Thames College, we are now seeking two Deputy Heads of School.

One role is to take responsibility for our English and Maths provision - including 16-18 Functional Skills and GCSE, and being the lead Project Manager for the Multiply programme, and for successful GLA and national bids. You’ll also take responsibilityfor the Adult professional courses including Teacher Education, AAT and ILM.

The other is to take responsibility for organising work experience, industrial placements and other employer led activities for over 700 learners each year. You’ll be responsible for careers support for internal and external service users as well as thedesign, launch and successful delivery for new AEB-funded Employability courses and managing relationships with over 200 local stakeholders to support these activities.

We’d like our Deputy Heads of School to hold relevant professional qualifications, including a recognised teaching qualification, and have proven experience of effective teamwork, both as the leader of a team of staff and as part of a team including managingunder-performance. You will have strong awareness of future developments that influence the curriculum, particularly the needs of the local and regional economy, and have thorough understanding of what makes for excellent evidence-based teaching, learningand assessment and how to monitor it effectively.

Our Deputy Heads of School should have an in-depth knowledge of how to plan, budget, resource and monitor the curriculum and have the leadership skill set of being able to identify where intervention is needed, developing a plan to secure improvement, andachieving the target outcome. You’ll bring a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of national standards and what excellent curriculum provision and outcomes look like and be able to set and achieve high professional standards in everything that you do.

A track record of effective partnership working with other organisations including Schools, Universities, other Colleges and employers is desirable.
