This is a great opportunity to join the Estates and Facilities leadership team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust.

You will lead all operational aspects of the Facilities Management (FM) team in a newly developed role as Head of Facilities. The successful applicant will support the Assistant Director of Facilities to shape the future development of FM services within the trust and aligned to regional workstreams. This will include developing the strategic development of services focussing on patient experience and patient care and aligned to the Trust’s strategic aims.

You will take over all day-to-day management of the high performing in-house teams within Domestic, Portering, Catering, Linen, Monitoring, Accommodation, General Office, and Linen Services, and will prioritise the continued responsiveness and development of the services to meet all internal and external demands. You will also be responsible for all FM related SLA’s linked to the departments listed and their associated financial, auditing and information gathering processes, both internally and externally. Including but not limited to the FM related aspects of CQC, PLACE and ERIC.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

1. To support and deputise for the Deputy Director of Facilities General Manager on all aspects of operational Facilities services.
2. To be responsible for the operational management of FM at the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS FT Trust
3. To manage Soft FM contracts, both internal and external, in addition to all levels of directly employed staff, to ensure the delivery of operational Facilities services.
4. To be accountable for managing and complying with all statutory instruments and guidance ensuring best practice related to FM
5. Responsible at site level for the professional and technical management of highly specialised areas of Facilities Management including Special Working Conditions and Patient Environment. etc
6. To deliver all regulatory standards and ensure compliance with national standards and policies.
7. Support the duties of Authorised Persons and Authorised Engineers for The Site.
8. To support effective working relationships with clinical teams and service users.
9. Prioritise and manage resources, both outside contractors and in-house labour, in routine and emergency situations taking in to account the conflicting demands of the services within the Trust.
10. Provide line management for all levels of Facilities staff, including the resolution of disciplinary and grievance matters and the appropriate recording of such information necessary for the efficient operation of the Trust systems and services.
11. Receive and interpret complex, specialised and occasionally contentious information from outside Agencies to other staff groups within the Trust.
12. Continual use and improvement of the Trust Works Information and other database systems, to create, develop and deliver comprehensive reports on specified areas of responsibility.
13. Research and develop the latest Facilities Management strategies and implement new methods of working throughout the Group to obtain the optimum return on resources
14. To ensure that PLACE standards are aligned to the Care Quality Commissions’ expectations.
15. To ensure the Trust is always compliant with the relevant legislative and Department of Health guidance.
16. To lead on FM collaboration within the Lancashire and South Cumbria ICS and enable all FM related projects within LTHTR
