Our Future Health will be the UK’s largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to detect, prevent, and treat diseases. Diseases like cancer, dementia, diabetes, and heart disease affect the lives of many people in our communities. Our goal is to create a world-leading resource for health research, to improve our understanding and spot the patterns of how and why common diseases start, so treatments can begin sooner and be more effective.
The ambition of Our Future Health differs from other large UK population cohorts in terms of scale and the aim to recruit much higher numbers of participants from groups who are not well represented in research i.e. ethnic minorities, younger people and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.
Our Community Engagement Officers are responsible for:
- Supporting the planning, implementation, and evaluation of pilot projects designed to engage underrepresented communities. This could involve:

- Developing and maintaining relationships with community groups, organisations, and stakeholders to foster trust and collaboration.
- Supporting on tailored content development and dissemination across various community groups
- Supporting the team with preparing reports on project progress, community feedback, and engagement metrics for internal and external stakeholders

- Advocating for the needs and interests of underrepresented communities within the organisation.
- Representing the organisation at community events and forums.
- Sharing insights and learnings across the organisation from your engagement with communities to help improve programme design.
