Our client, a state of the art sporting and Event venue near Walton on Thames, Surrey are currently looking to recruit a Head Chef to join their talented team.
The successful Head Chef will have an interest in sport and nutrition alongside their passion for cooking. They use good quality local produce to create menus for members and events. As well as catering for the members they also cater for meetings and eventssuch as weddings, parties, celebrations etc.
Duties and Key Responsibilities:
*Manage all catering needs from buffet to wedding menus
*Ensures that high standards of sanitation, cleanliness and safety are always maintained throughout all kitchen areas
*Working closely with the Head of Performance
*Develops recipes and techniques for food preparation and presentation which help to assure consistently high quality and to minimize food costs; exercises portion control for all items served and assists in establishing menu selling prices for all clientsand third parties
*Attends food and beverage staff and management meetings
*Consults with the General Manager about food production aspects of special events being planned. Cooks or directly supervises the cooking of items that require skilful preparation
*Ensures proper staffing for maximum productivity and high standards of quality; controls food costs to achieve maximum profitability
*Interacts with management to assure that food production consistently exceeds the expectations of all stakeholders
*Evaluates products to assure that quality, price, and related goods are consistently met
*Establishes and maintains a regular cleaning and maintenance schedule for all kitchen areas and equipment
*Always support safe work habits and a safe working environment
Person Specification
Skills and Abilities:
*Excellent communication skills
*Flexible and adaptable to the service required
*Excellent management skills
*Ability to be creative and come up a variety of menus to suit the business needs
**Experience**:
*2 years in a Head Chef position
*Experience handling budgets
*Supplier management
*Large scale event catering
*A professional catering or related qualification is preferable, but not mandatory
Personal Attributes:
*Team player attitude
*Desire to improve and innovate
*Approachable
*An interest in nutrition
Hours:
The Head Chef will work 5/7 days, primarily on daytime shifts except when evening functions take place.
