Purpose of job
**Landsec’s sustainability strategy is largely recognised as market leading in the industry. With c. 12m square foot of development pipeline and a growing portfolio of refurbishment projects, our role in reducing our impact on the environment has never been greater.**

The Sustainability Executive role is to work as part of the Sustainability team, in partnership with the Portfolio and Development teams, focusing on sustainable design in refurbishments and fit outs as well as supporting on Landsec’s extensive development pipeline.

**The primary duties of this role include**:

- Creating the vital link between the company sustainability vision and programme, and the experiences we deliver through our growing portfolio of developments and refurbishments, predominantly in our retail portfolio, ensuring our products and delivery reflect our aspirations in all aspects of the programme.
- Play a key role in developing and implementing Landsec’s industry leading sustainability programme and translating the requirements into refurbishment and fit outs, helping us to deliver net zero carbon buildings and sustainable places.
- Provide guidance and direction to a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders on sustainability related matters
- Keeping our development and refurbishment projects on track to achieve targeted sustainability outcomes through influencing and co-ordinating our external designers, engineers and delivery partners.
- Closely monitor contractor environmental impacts and drive reductions

Principle accountabilities
- Working collaboratively with the design teams, devise scopes of services and be a critical part of the tender process for sustainability consultants. Manage external consultants and influence our delivery partners to ensure building certifications such as WELL and BREEAM are optimised and delivered.
- Embed principles of Circular Economy in the fit out designs, product offerings and site management. Research into innovative products and materials will be beneficial
- Develop and review appropriate policies and guidance documents ensuring they remain relevant and support the delivery of our sustainability strategy, including the development of a sustainability brief for refurbishment projects.
- Help develop marketing material for projects based on the sustainability credentials of a space
- Support the leasing team and attend meetings with potential customers, where required
- Deliver training and carry out engagement with designers, consultants and contractors to ensure understanding of our sustainability strategy and Landsec’s position on setting site-specific sustainability targets and metrics.
- Lead the reduction of supply chain carbon emissions through design and procurement.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Project Management functions to drive operational energy reduction. Knowledge of the Design for Performance methodology and NABERS UK is favourable.
- Input into relevant handover documentation to ensure that the project achieves its sustainability targets in operations
- Collaborate with the Sustainability Managers and Development teams to perform post occupancy evaluations on recently completed projects, using external consultant teams where appropriate. Collate feedback and use to provide design guidance to developments.
- Collate and prepare evidence to support our annual assurance process and external communications, ensuring that financial, carbon and other performance metrics claims can be backed up with robust and complete data.
- Collaborate to the submission to ESG benchmarks, such as GRESB, DJSI and CDP by preparing responses and providing relevant information to questions related to development and refurbishment projects.

Key competencies
- Ability to collaborate and influence large disparate teams to achieve outcomes across complex projects
- Ability to navigate complex design and procurement issues working against fast moving project deadlines. This will require the successful individual to be proactive and able to solve problems under pressure
- Business and commercial acumen to be able to communicate sustainability objectives in conventional cost and value terms
- Ability to build relationships across different business functions at all levels of seniority
- Good communication skills to communicate complex issues such as carbon accounting to non-sustainability stakeholders such as Landsec colleagues, agents, occupiers
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once with multiple stakeholders in
