Techniche are supporting a world’s largest polymer foams manufacturer with appointing a new Manufacturing Engineer. The company specialise in production of polymer foam products, to any type of industry including construction, packing, mattresses, sportshoes etc.
As a Manufacturing Engineer you will be responsible for maximising the profit of the business through the effective productionisation of New Product Introductions (NPI) and Raw Material Development (RMD) projects to the agreed cost, quality and timing.
**Responsibilities**:
- To liaise with the New Product Development (NPD) and Raw Material Development (RMD) departments to facilitate scale-up from prototype to serial production.
- To identify and eliminate waste in the production process through the use of lean manufacturing tools, root cause analysis and logical problem-solving.
- Responsible for drafting and owning production work instructions (SOP’s & SPP’s) to ensure production processes are safe, efficient and ensure optimum product quality.
- To maximise resource utilisation through the reduction of downtime and scrap, whilst increasing throughput without detrimental impact to quality.
- Includes leading continuous improvement projects from ideation to delivery, with robust stakeholder, timing and cost management.
**Requirements**:
- 5+ years polymer processing knowledge e.g., extrusion, injection moulding etc.
- Proven experience with lean manufacturing/six sigma/continuous improvement tools.
- Proficient in the use of statistical analysis software e.g., Minitab, JMP, NWA Quality Analyst etc., MS Office and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of simulation software packages desirable (MATLAB, Sci-lab etc.)
