What it's like to work here:Set on the edge of Exmoor, overlooking the Bristol Channel, Dunster Castle has been here for around a thousand years. These days this busy historic property welcomes around 200,000 people a year who come to enjoy its stunning setting and host of things to discover and do.

The accommodation is a flat. Flat 2 is a two bedroom/single reception room on the mezzanine floor, which means it's between the first and ground floors. The living room has lovely views over the village. You'll have your own entry/exit door direct into the house and a private entry/exit door for own use.

What you'll be doing:You’ll be responsible for the daily opening of the house, ensuring appropriate resources are in place to be able to provide a consistently excellent service for our visitors. Working with a team of Collection Assistants, you'll supervise the the daily housekeeping and conservation routines, the preventive conservation and annual deep cleaning programme within the house, to ensure excellent standards of care and presentation, delivering strategies to improve conservation.

You'll collect and record information during housekeeping and conservation cleaning routines to inform our understanding of the house and the collection, and use preventive conservation techniques to improve how we conserve, interpret and present the property. You’ll enjoy telling visitors about our fascinating history, sharing tales from the past as well as your personal experience of working here.

You'll be an advocate for the National Trust, leading and supporting our house team and volunteers for excellence in presentation and visitor care and experience. You'll be part of a close-knit team working hard to preserve this amazing place for future generations.

- Knowledge of customer care and approaches to optimising visitor enjoyment.
- Good team player with day to day line management and supervisory skills.
- Good interpersonal skills enabling relationships to be maintained.
- Some knowledge and experience of managing costs and expenditure.
- Willing to contribute original or imaginative ways to make elements of the collection or house that are difficult to reach accessible to all visitors.
