Underwriter

Kind Consultancy is working with a large Motor Finance business which is currently seeking an Underwriter to join them on a 6-month contract in their Berkshire offices paying £150 per day via umbrella. The working hours are 35 hours per week between 9.00am-5.00pm Monday to Friday with the occasional 10.00am
- 6.00pm and Saturday cover. A day in lieu will be provided the following week for working a Saturday.

The Underwriter will report directly to the Customer and Credit Assessment Manager and work in a small but highly motivated team of Credit Assessment Analysts, with key responsibilities including:

- Ensuring your decisions meet the lending criteria, utilising good judgement to recommend going outside those criteria when appropriate.
- Reviewing customer open banking data in order to ensure they are able to afford the proposed monthly commitment.
- Liaising with Operations Managers and Dealers with respect to the credit assessment process and the decisions made.
- Reviewing potential Politically Exposed Persons and Sanctions to ensure legal and regulatory requirements are met around fraud and financial crime.
- Has extensive experience operating as an underwriter and/or credit assessor in the Motor Finance industry or equivalent.
- Has experience of carrying out customer and enhanced due diligence assessments, particularly on PEP and Sanctions customers.
- Has exceptional communication skills with an ability to succinctly capture the basis for a decision, including salient evidence.
- Is able to demonstrate confident decision-making and the ability to filter large amounts of information into the key drivers of any decision.
- Has recently been in possession of a credit assessment mandate to decision balances in excess of 30K.
- Is familiar with FCA regulatory sourcebookCONC.
- Is a team player with strong numeracy skills.
