Principal Data Strategist

A Data Strategist is responsible for helping our clients to create a data strategy aligned to their business strategy, that delivers value from data & AI.
**Job responsibilities**:
- Work with our client's leaders to co-create and align their defensive and offensive data strategies with their business strategy and needs
- Define and track value and outcomes delivered by the strategy, to demonstrate ongoing return on investment
- Consult on complex data programs, synchronising cross-cutting concerns, and providing client-facing leadership and guidance
- Devise and execute on an enterprise data strategy, with a focus on modern cloud native big data and analytics investments
- Guide definition and implementation of the data strategy, which includes defining technology choices (preferably cloud-based), modernisation of existing analytics technologies, closing organisational skill gaps and establishing data ownership and governance practices
- Collaborate with the delivery teams engaged in the programme, and being able to connect their work with the wider strategy
- Create an operating model and drive the required change to build an organisation that supports data mesh
- Design the roles, team structure, and skills for creating an organisation that can execute a data strategy, including capabilities in data science, data engineering, architecture, data governance, product management, and infrastructure
- Interact with clients in a variety of domains, who have a spectrum of challenging problems
- Support or drive the development and execution of Thoughtworks' go-to-market offerings and propositions
- Represent Thoughtworks and Data & AI community in various online and offline forums (events, conferences)
- Work in a dynamic, collaborative, transparent culture where your talent is valued over a role title
- Develop your career outside of the confinements of a traditional career path by focusing on what you're passionate about rather than a predetermined one-size-fits-all plan
**Job qualifications**:
**Technical skills**:
- Have the business acumen, domain experience, technology architecture and delivery experience to identify, conceptualise, prioritise and champion enterprise-wide data driven initiatives
- Ability to partner and become a trusted advisor to commercial, information and data leaders in the business
- Ability to see the value which can be created out of the customers' data
- Ability to articulate the value of modern data technology approaches to business executives and build key relationships with platform teams to ensure delivery
- You are capable of identifying, shaping and selling new business opportunities
- Understand the data lifecycle in an organisation
- Collaborate with others on developing, evolving and evangelising the data strategy
- Breadth of knowledge across data skills, such as data science, data engineering, data analysis, visualisation, data governance, and infrastructure
- Familiarity with modern data architectures, such as data mesh
- Familiarity with data & AI services from at least one major cloud provider
- Ability to guide clients on technology direction, including decisions around building, buying, or partnering
- Experience using Lean and Agile methodologies to create evolutionary roadmaps that emphasise early delivery of value
- Familiarity with change management practices and frameworks, to drive organisational transformation
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Expertise in a specific domain, such as: healthcare and life sciences, financial services, retail, or public sector
- Other desirable skills include: knowledge of modern data technologies, experience in multi-cloud environments
