- Reporting to our Legal Director, This is a fixed-term opportunity for a Head of Information Governance / Data Protection Officer (DPO) to join our team whilst the incumbent is on maternity leave (expected to be 9 - 12 months but may vary). The Head of Information Governance / DPO will lead a small but dedicated team who manage our data protection compliance, FOI/EIR requests and complaints handling. As such the role is integral in helping develop Homes England’s data protection compliance.**Job description**:
The Head of Information Governance / Data Protection Officer (DPO) will be responsible for delivering a range of key data protection functions, including providing advice and support on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), personal data breaches and international transfers of personal data.
This is an exciting opportunity which will provide support to Homes England’s most innovative and transformational projects to enable cutting-edge ways of processing personal data.
As Head of Information Governance / Data Protection Officer, you will ensure the team delivers its high volume and complex workload, often within tight deadlines, prioritising as appropriately. You will engage at all levels across the Agency and develop relationships with external partners and stakeholders including the Information Commissioners Office (ICO), DLUHC and Cabinet Office.
**Responsibilities**:
You’ll be a confident privacy and information governance professional, with experience of carrying out all the DPO’s statutory functions including monitoring compliance with data protection legislation, advising on data protection impact assessments, co-operating with the ICO, taking a risk-aware approach in respect of the risks associated with Homes England’s data processing operations and ensuring our ROPAs are complete and compliant.
As a persuasive and enthusiastic communicator, you will be passionate and keen to spread the word about data protection and FOI/EIR to your colleagues throughout the agency.
Demonstrable experience of taking a customer-focused approach and ability to resolve complaints from the public promptly and appropriately is vital to the role. You’ll be keen to explore how technology can be used to further privacy management and make processes more efficient.
