**Principal Geologist for Lands and Planning - Derby**

We have an exciting opportunity to join Hanson UK in the critical role of Principal Geologist. Working in the Hanson UK Land and Mineral Resources Department, the successful applicant will be a key member of our dedicated team of geologists providing specialist advice and support to all business lines to ensure safe and effective management and development of Hanson's mineral resources.
The position is ideal for an ambitious, mid-level geologist looking to step up, or a senior level geologist seeking a new and exciting challenge. It is expected that the successful applicant will be a Chartered Geologist and have achieved at least 7 years relevant post-graduate experience working in the UK minerals extractive industry.**Description of Team / Department**
Land and Mineral Resources Department**Purpose of / Responsibilities of the role*
- *
**Co-ordinate and provide geological services to all business lines**
*
- Manage company mineral reserves and resource assets including assessment of mineral resources for acquisition
- Provide advice on environmental permitting including waste, mines waste, water discharge and abstraction
- Prepare quarry development and mineral extraction schemes in association with operations management, engineering geologists and other Land and Mineral department colleagues
- Prepare designs and appraisals for geotechnical hazards including excavations, tips and lagoons

Skills / Experience**
- BSc (Hons) (geosciences and preferably with an applied geology bias)*
**Chartered Geologist**
**Minimum 7 years experience in the minerals/quarrying industry preferably with an aggregates bias**
**Proficient use of MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; and other software relevant to quarry design e.g. LSS.**
