The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWCMD) are seeking an experienced and successful practitioner to provide Specialist One to One Study Support to neurodiverse and disabled students across all music and drama degree programmes who are in receipt of Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSA).

Based at Cardiff this role will provide you with an opportunity to utilise your range of skills as a specialist disability practitioner. This is a permanent, part time role. You will be required to work 18.5 hours per week for 35 weeks* of the year. On average there will be 13 hours of taught time each week.

**Job Purpose**

To fulfil our duty to promote an inclusive learning environment for all-learners, RWCMD have an in-house support provision linked with Disabled Students’ Allowances. Regular one-to-one Specialist Study Support will allow our neurodiverse and disabled students seek excellent general tuition to allow them to compete on an even playing field.

**Key Responsibilities**
- To provide confidential specialist study support to students across a broad spectrum of neurodiverse and disability need on a face-to-face and remote (Microsoft Teams) basis: o This will include responding to individual student need through tailoring/creating approaches to help student’s develop appropriate academic study skills, strategies, tools and techniques, using a person-centered model.
- To engage individual learners and develop suitable professional relationships to ensure all learners access regular support.
- To have the ability to work flexibility during busy periods of the term.
- To support learners to understand professional boundaries in relation to specialist support, and funding body’s rules in relation to attendance/cancelled sessions.
- To support the completion of Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSA), and to signpost to service manager when appropriate.
- To produce clear and correct monthly timesheets.
- To produce ongoing records of student support/engagement for each learner.
- To work with colleagues to create a central database of learning resources for all learners.
- To keep a record of continuing professional development.
- An awareness of the Freedom of Information Act, The Equality Act 2010 and Disability Act
- To support the College’s obligations under regulatory and legislative requirements, included Equality

Act, Prevent agenda, Confidentiality and Data Protection.
- Any other reasonable duties that fall within the scope of the post, as allocated by the line manager, following consultation with the post holder.

1 A demonstrable commitment to contributing to the College’s core values of fairness, dignity and respect, and celebrating diversity, equality and inclusion of people from all sectors of society *

2 A first degree.*

3 Postgraduate qualification/s in teaching and/or teaching neurodiverse adults. *

5 Professional experience teaching neurodiverse adults in higher education. *

6 Experience working within a Student Support Service within higher education.

7 Experience working collaboratively with other SpLD professionals.

8 Knowledge of disability legislation, reasonable adjustments and the learning and teaching context of disability
