**Job overview**:
The post holder will report to the Named Practitioner for safeguarding adults across The Northern Care alliance and that the required operational and service quality standards are achieved.

The post holder will support the Named Nurse in the operational delivery, service development and monitoring of the statutory and regulatory Safeguarding adults duties as outlined within the Care Act 2014

The post holder will provide high quality “hands on” clinical presence, specialist advice and training to staff in relation to
- Safeguarding adults
- Mental Capacity Act (MCA) 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) 2009
- Associated continuous professional development and service requirements as identified by the Named Nurse

**Main duties of the job**:
The post holder will provide effective leadership and on-going direction to safeguarding colleagues in order to meet CQC Standards of Care, regulatory and commissioning contractual requirements.

The post holder will work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders involved in safeguarding adults activity in order to promote effective partnership working. This will involve a high degree of effective coordination, communication, networking and liaison to establish and maintain good working relationships within health and other agencies both locally and more widely.

**Essential criteria**:

- Professional qualification in Health or Social Care with current registration with relevant professional bodt
- Relevant 1st level degree qualification or evidence of relevant experience
- Knowledge of the Safeguarding adults agenda with the NHS, knowledge on the implications of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards in health
- Have substantial safeguarding experience at Band 6 (or equivalent) or above.
- Expert working knowledge of key legislation and health policy relating Safeguarding adults

**Desirable criteria**:

- Experience in working with complex adult safeguarding cases and understanding of adult safeguarding procedures
- Working towards a Masters level degree or evidence of relevant experiential learning.
- Managing groups / stakeholders in conflict
