**Hourly rate: £16 - £20 ph PAYE**
**Duration: 6 months contract (potential for extension)**
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Communications & Marketing Officer to work for a leading University, based in London.
**Main purpose of the job**
To provide Computer Science with operational delivery of communications and marketing activities which are on brand, on budget and on time and ensure an on-going process of improvement through measurement and analytics. The role-holder will support in areasincluding, but not limited to: designing and producing a range of digital communications (website, intranet, e-newsletters, social media posts, mailing lists etc.); drafting news items and press releases, designing and producing marketing literature (flyers,posters etc.); brand and visual identity management, and event co-ordination and administration.
**Key responsibilities**:
Update and develop the department's website, taking into account web standards, CMA-compliance, Search Engine Optimisation and accessibility needs. This will include writing, editing and uploading content, and selecting and sizing images and multimedia.
Prepare a range of press releases and news items, liaising with academic staff, students and Media Relations teams as necessary.
Drafting newsletters using Mailchimp.
Support the Communications Team with social media management and monitoring.
Proof reading a range of content, including print and digital.
Assist the Communications Team with regular reporting to internal stakeholders.
Support the implementation of the Brand communications and campaigns.
Support the development of approaches to social media that are innovative and engaging.
Events
Support with event co-ordination, including workshops, conferences, book launches and receptions, seminars and public engagement events. This will include assisting with invitations and registration; event logistics; event marketing; briefing and liaising withpresenters, delegates and suppliers; and evaluation and reporting.
Undertake thorough post-event administration including uploading content to relevant platforms.
Communicate through clear verbal and written correspondence with speakers, staff, attendees and service providers.
Take responsibility for small projects within large scale events.
Maintain accurate financial records for small events (e.g. one-off seminars/workshops), or small projects within large scale events
Educated to at least A level standard or relevant professional experience
Qualification in a communications or marketing discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Working knowledge of Content Management Systems (e.g. Drupal)
Experience of creating and managing news and media content.
Experience of producing effective print and online communications e.g. press releases, newsletters, webpages, brochures etc.
Knowledge of social media platforms and how they can be used to communicate and engage with different audiences
Experience of using social media to promote an organisation, project or campaign.
Working in a large complex organisation in a variety of sectors
Experience of events administration work, managing/organising meetings, small events or projects
Editing SharePoint and simple video production
Experience of using web-based software to send and monitor e-newsletters (e.g. Mail Chimp, DotMailer)
Strong communication skills (written and oral) including spelling, grammar and editing
Highly developed organisational and prioritisation skills, and the ability to work efficiently to tight deadlines, on a range of concurrent projects, whilst maintaining attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, discretion and negotiation
The ability to work as part of a team and listening skills when dealing with internal customers and colleagues
