**R S Johnson & Sons Funeral Directors in South Shields was built in 1969. We set out to provide our local community with chapels of rest, so bereaved families could pay their final respects to loved ones before saying farewell.**

**We help families by continuing to provide the highest standards of funeral care, service and facilities. Our funeral home is equipped with premium facilities, including our three chapels of rest.**

**R S Johnson & Sons Funeral Directors are looking for a dedicated, professional and empathetic individual to join our committed and collaborative team as a Funeral Service Operative. **What Will I Be Doing as A Funeral Service Operative?**

As a Funeral Service Operative, you will be at the very heart and focal point of our business, persistently delivering consistently high levels of client services to the deceased and their families.

Some of our posts will require you to assist our on-call rota at night and on the weekend, though this will be fully discussed with you throughout the recruitment process.

**Other duties will include**:

- Being part of the funeral service by bearing the coffin and driving company vehicles
- Preparing and ensuring the cleanliness of vehicles
- Assisting the Funeral Director with pre-funeral checks including route planning and address checking.
- Aid with bringing the deceased into our care

**What Do I Need?**
- A full UK driving licence
- Good level of physical fitness, as this role will involve heavy lifting duties
- The necessary documentation for a basic DBS, reference & driving licence check.
- Pride in your appearance, ensuring you are always professional
- A caring and empathetic nature
- The determination to deliver excellent client services
- Be able to work well in a team

**Advantageous**:

- Previous experience in the industry, though this is not required, as full training will be provided.
