**Job introduction**:
We are looking for a full time permanent Education Support Worker.

You will join an established team who provide educational support for children in care and children previously in care, enabling them to achieve their full potential and succeed as adults.

**Interview date**: Thursday 17th October 2024

**About the role**:
As an Education Support Worker, you will be supporting a range of children and young people in their school, college or other alternative provision. The Education Support Worker supports the work of Virtual School Advisers and the Virtual School Lead, schools, social workers, carers and other professionals.

You will ensure each child or young person is provided with an educational placement in a timely manner, you will then monitor the placement via the school, looking at progress; educational targets; attendance and any support requirements.

You will hold exceptionally high aspirations for each child. As the corporate parent you will be willing to challenge senior educational professionals and expect the highest standards of teaching and learning and support for every child in care.

You will facilitate and support personal education plans (PEPs) which are held three times each year; this is a regular opportunity for the school; social workers; carers and educational professionals to discuss how barriers to progress can be overcome; pick up any issues and work out possible solutions; help to set targets and agree how Pupil Premium Plus can be used to meet individual needs, so that the child makes accelerated progress.

You will undertake any other administrative tasks which support the work of the Education Advisers and Lead. You must be self-motivated and able to work independently.

Having previously worked within an educational setting is recommended.

It will be necessary to build good relationships with school colleagues but also be able to represent the needs of the young person in a robust and positive manner.

You may be required to travel throughout Brighton & Hove to visit educational settings.

**Additional information**:
