Assembly and Despatch Team Member

Lifetime Education Ltd is a small but growing manufacturing and design company. We

supply play equipment and furniture to the infant school, playgroup, and private day nursery

market direct and through specialist wholesalers. Full details of Lifetime Education's product

**Context**

Full time. Monday-Thursday 8.00pm - 4.30 pm (8 hrs) and Friday) 8am - 1.30pm (5.5 hrs) a

**Main Duties**

This list is not exhaustive, but the job holder will be part of a team accountable or

responsible for the following (list is NOT in order of priority):
- General product assembly and preparing covers (including turning cover) for assembly.
- Filling products as required (Cushions, Bean Bag Beans, Foam)
- Final assembly and finishing of padded mirrors and flip sequin boards.
- Final quality inspection of finished goods.
- Packaging orders for despatch including wrapping pallets.
- Product labelling prior to despatch.
- Despatch consignment labelling, and despatch of finished orders using the online Courier despatch systems.
- Receiving incoming goods.
- Inspection of returned goods.
- Assistance with the maintenance of production and assembly equipment to a safe standard, and prompt reporting of any defects as required.
- Working safely, accurately, and methodically and if required keeping timesheets/ worksheets to show the work you have done.
- Prioritising work (and changing the priority of work) as agreed with the Supervisor.
- From time-to-time other general warehouse and production tasks with the rest of the team, ensuring the Health and Safety of yourself, your colleagues and all visitors to the premises.
- Ensuring the correct documentation (e.g. collection notes, sales notes etc) is issued or collected and filed according to current practices.
- Tidying of the workspace to ensure a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free working environment, easy access to all equipment, and a professional image to customers.
- Stowage and handling of equipment and goods to maintain their value and condition and fitness for purpose.
- Working as a team with other employees to ensure an efficient workplace and satisfied customers. Critical to success are good verbal communication skills, a focus on customer satisfaction, good organizational skills and attention to detail, the ability to work to deadlines under pressure.
- Attending relevant training courses as organised by management.

**Qualifications / Knowledge/Experience**

Essential =
- An understanding of factory working disciplines and safety at work rules.
- Experience in packing and assembly.
- A good level of literacy and numeracy.
- A strong work ethic and 100% attendance record
- Physical fitness and good manual dexterity
- Must be able to work individually and as part of a team and keep to strict deadlines.
- Ability to listen carefully and carry out instructions given and pay attention to the detail.
- Ability to work in a safe, tidy, methodical an efficient way as guided by the supervisor.

Desirable =
- A familiarity and understanding of basic warehouse skills and tools.
- Experience of stacking and wrapping pallets with customer orders ready for export
- An understanding of quality control.
- A keen interest in DIY, or fabrics or craft work
- A good working knowledge of têxtiles and commercial têxtile factory production systems

**Training**

Supplementary necessary training will be given.

**Lifting and health**

Due to the nature of the PVC and heavy cotton fabrics we use, the size of our products, the

role involving lifting, loading and unloading activities, some lifting of heavy/bulky items will

occur regularly (daily) as part of the job. Successful completion of the role means that you

must not have any physical limitation or chronic or pre-existing health conditions that will

limit or inhibit your ability to fully carry out the duties required by the role in the time limit

required as set by the company directors in line with the commercial requirements of the

business.

**Salary**: From £11.50 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
