**About the Opportunity**

Reporting to the Head of Project Controls, responsible at tender stage for the range of activities involved in the project planning life cycle, which include:

- Accountable for Identifying planning scope, major constraints, and contract requirements.
- Overall accountable for tender planning
- Identifying major quantities and factors affecting the programme
- Building the programme from first principles, ensuring that programme content is functionally compliant with the planning procedures and guidance.
- Working with all disciplines to ensure the full project scope is captured within the programme
- Establishing and agreeing construction outputs and agree working hours where appropriate
- Establishing and agreeing with Operations key methods of construction, sequencing, installation, and commissioning
- Producing and documenting the planning deliverables including programmes, planning philosophy, presentations, and reports.
- Developing overall programmes, issuing to all parties for review and implementing recommendations, innovation, and best practice as applicable
- Reconciling company and sub-contract plant/labour and major materials elements in conjunction where appropriate
- Cost and resource loading, plus resource levelling techniques as required
- Interfacing with third parties to identify and resolve issues
- Production of basis of schedule
- Establish earned value metrics for implementation once awarded
- Production of robust handover documentation to delivery team
- Review and development of planning procedures and process

In addition to the above, if required, at contract stage the Planner is responsible for:

- Ensuring that the Contract Programme is produced, managed, and maintained in accordance with the planning procedures.
- The overall planning strategy and the timing & sequence of the Contract Programme activities
- The issue and communication of the Contract Programme to the Project Lead for onward issue to Client and Project Team
- Ensuring that all other project planning and programming necessary for the execution of the contract is properly undertaken.
- Set up appropriate visual programme to assist the Project Team to timely deliver projects and improve productivity, performance, and safety of projects.
- Ensuring all reporting requirements are accurately captured.
- Establish, implement & manage EVM reporting throughout the lifecycle of the project

**Here’s What You’ll Need**: Essential**
- Experienced with Primavera P6
- Experience, across all stages of the project life cycle
- Substantial experience of planning services in medium to large sized projects within the construction industry 15m - 100m
- Experience in managing schedules on NEC Projects
- Good experience in the use of planning techniques and the relevant planning toolset
- Good understanding of the various forms of tender documents, contract documents and specifications
- Good understanding of the various methods of planning, programme, and progress monitoring
- Good understanding of risk and opportunity management with reference to planning & programming
- Good understanding of the events that initiate, and of the methods used to demonstrate, delay, or change entitlement
- Good understanding of the construction market, methods of construction, plant, equipment, and labour requirements
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office in particular; Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering / construction related discipline
- Strong communication skills, including writing reports & presenting.

**Desirable**
- Awareness of Project Management principles (PRINCE2 / APM)
- A basic understanding of various contract types & contract law
