SF Recruitment are working with a business in Burton to recruit a Payroll Advisor. You'll be responsible for processing an end to end payroll in a small HR/Payroll team. The opportunity to make changes to processes, bring in new ideas to the function, and have full autonomy over this role are all the things our client would love the successful applicant to bring to this role.
Some of your main responsibilities will be
- Run the end to end in house payroll for approximately 1300 monthly paid employees and between 100 - 600 weekly paid employees.
- To capture, validate and process employee related data in order to provide an effective payroll service and remunerate employees at the agreed frequency.

- To input/update the HR/payroll database on a daily basis to ensure all information received is processed without delay.
- Ensure that all employee records are correctly maintained and protected in line with GDPR regulations.
- Deal effectively with queries and correspondence from employees and outside bodies, Inland Revenue, DSS, CSA, the Courts, Banks and Building Societies, etc.
- Prepare PAYE / NI Payments
- Process international payrolls and submit periodic returns as and when required. Arrange payment of salaries and associated costs, including Ireland, Spain, Italy and India
- Prepare and upload all pension related data
- Liaising closely with the Strategic HR team and People Operations Team ensuring a close relationship to enable right first time pay. Supporting with Ad hoc projects as needed.
Required Skills and Experience
- Competent pay professional
- Excellent attention to detail
- Seeks information from appropriate existing sources to handle tasks, issues and problems.
- Refers to higher authorities and/or established procedures and regulations when required.
- Acts promptly to meet customer/employee needs.
- Ability to work within a fast moving, deadline orientated environment.
- Effective communicator
A flexible approach to start and finish times is what you'll find on offer with this role. If you're someone who likes to start early in the morning in order to finish earlier, or if you prefer a later start to finish later, either are absolutely fine with our client. A hybrid approach, with flexibility to work from home and the office around you is a given; our client just asks for the key payroll processing days to be in the office.
If you have the above skill set, and are from either in-house or a bureau payroll background, I'd be really keen to hear from you with you updated CV in relation to this role.
