We are recruiting for a Senior Press Officer to be based within communtable distance of the North East

Salary to £50,000 + excellent benefits package

Flexible working as the role will also require you to attend big events and media visits

With the head office based in Sedgefield, they are happy with remote / hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities:

- Contribute to relevant Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE), and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion practices.
- Support the delivery of the Marketing Communications strategy.
- Manage, maintain and build strong relationships with national, trade and regional media outlets across the North of England, Scotland and wider UK.
- Proactively pitch stories directly to journalists and podcast producers to secure op-eds and thought leadership opportunities.
- Lead meetings with senior leaders across the business to prepare reactive statements and media briefings.
- Contribute to media campaign planning and crisis communications.
- Lead media monitoring, distribution, and reporting using our media monitoring platform.
- Write and edit clear, creative, and compelling science content for editorials, press releases, media pitches, podcast pitches, and online blog, ensuring written copy is compliant with tone of voice and content style guides.
- Liaise with and edit work produced by our network of freelance writers.
- Creating and editing copy for our diverse audiences, from our communities in the North of England and Scotland to technologists, industry, policymakers, and science-interested publics across the UK.
- To interview staff and turning complex ideas into compelling copy for press releases, pitches, media briefings, editorials, and blogs to communicate our incredible innovation to the world and position the business as a thought leader in the UK innovationecosystem.

Offering:

- Hours of work: 37 per week, this is 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday to Thursday, 8:30am - 4:30pm on a Friday with an hour unpaid lunch break per day
- Pension: If the employee contributes 5% of their annual salary into the pension scheme, the company will contribute 10%. The pension is through Aviva and comes with other discounts such as car, travel and health insurance.
- Employees are entitled to permanent health insurance, in the event that an employee is on long term sick and in receipt of Statutory Sick Pay, we can put a claim in with the insurers and if accepted, they will top the salary up to 80% of normal earnings
- Holidays: 25 days paid holiday per leave year plus 8 Public Bank Holidays. The holiday year runs from 1 January to 31 December
- Accident and life insurance: The company has a personal accident and life insurance scheme for all employees which is three times your annual salary.
- Annual bonus to 10% pending on performance
