An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and diligent lawyer to join our Scottish team (based in Edinburgh) to work on a number of group actions.

We are seeking a talented Associate to join our team in Edinburgh. We look to our Associates for their insights, legal expertise, ability to develop a case strategy, as well as their knowledge of court procedure. Associates are given management and case strategy responsibilities of large group actions from day one. Our Associates are ambitious and hardworking lawyers who enjoy working as part of a collaborative and dynamic team and share our passion for achieving justice for those we represent.
**Requirements**:
**Role responsibilities and core competencies**
- Working as part of the Scottish legal team in all aspects of civil litigation and alternative dispute resolution.
- Managing large, complex multi-jurisdictional disputes in a fast-paced environment, including leading case strategy.
- Delegating workstreams to associates, trainees and paralegals;
- Supporting our clients, conducting client meetings and providing the best possible advice;
- Instructing expert witnesses and counsel;
- Conducting detailed research;
- Drafting and reviewing of documentation and pleadings;
- Managing meetings effectively by setting clear agendas;
- Developing and maintaining relationships with external counsel, expert witnesses, financial partners and other external parties;
- Supervising trainees and paralegals;
- Managing legal documentation and demonstrating effective case management;
- Assisting the firm in achieving its professional objectives;
- Contributing to Pogust Goodhead’s business development.
**What you’ll bring to Pogust Goodhead**
**Essential**
- Scottish qualified lawyer;
- Minimum 5PQE+ or equivalent with the majority of your experience gained in a Scottish litigation practice;
- Strong technical skills with experience in Scottish litigation, preferably with experience in commercial litigation.
- Sound analytical skills with the ability to understand the clients’ needs and an ability to adopt the best-case strategy
- Enjoys working as part of a close-knit team;
- Great attention to detail and accuracy to produce work which is consistently of a high standard
- Very strong organisational skills, file management and time/record keeping
- Confident communicator able to work calmly under pressure
- Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated by previous collaborative work with external and internal parties
- A demonstrably flexible approach to work to ensure client deadlines are met and clients are communicated with efficiently
- Empathy and passion for the clients we represent
**Desirable**
- Experience in commercial litigation;
- Experience in pro-bono or social justice / human rights work
