Associate Director of Medical Education (Simulation) NHS Lothian Medical Education DirectorateBand 8a | Maternity Cover (12 months)Full time or LTFT (minimum 0.6 WTE)Secondment considered About the Role This is an exciting opportunity to join the NHS Lothian Medical Education Directorate as Associate Director of Medical Education (Simulation) during a period of growth and innovation. Youll provide strategic and operational leadership across our simulation programmes, which span undergraduate and postgraduate education, faculty development, and a growing translational simulation portfolio. Our vision is to embed simulation as a tool for learning, improvement, and system change; helping teams rehearse, refine, and redesign care across our hospitals and services. As ADME (Simulation), youll work closely with local education leads, simulation faculty, and senior clinical teams to ensure that simulation-based education continues to make a meaningful impact on both people and patient care. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership for the design, delivery, and evaluation of simulation activity across NHS Lothian. Develop and support faculty, promoting excellence and innovation in educational practice. Contribute to the development of translational simulation, using simulation to inform service improvement and patient safety. Collaborate with regional and national partners to align NHS Lothians work with Scotlands wider simulation strategy. Act as a key member of the Medical Education Directorate, contributing to its strategic and quality objectives. About You Were looking for a skilled and enthusiastic clinician educator with experience in simulation-based education and faculty development. Youll bring strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills, along with a commitment to improving systems through education. Applicants should hold a recognised healthcare professional qualification and have experience working in NHS Scotland.
