Our technology includes power generation and electrolysers for green hydrogen. Our licensing model has seen us establish partnerships with some of the world's most progressive companies to develop clean energy systems at the scale and pace needed to decarbonisepower generation, transportation, industry, and everyday living.
As part of our ongoing success and plans for growth we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced project practitioner to lead our programme / project management team.
**This opportunity is dual role**:
- The primary duty is to manage the programme / project management team talent pool to meet the needs of the business strategy, maximising team motivation and productivity. It is expected that this function will take no more than half of the available totaltime.
- The secondary duty is to operate as a Programme / Project manager when the primary duties of the role have been met. It is expected that this function will take no less than half of the available total time.
**Key Accountabilities**:
Line manage a team of Programme / Project Managers and:
- Support Senior Project Managers in allocating the team to programmes / projects as needed by the business strategy
- Track team utilisation and address areas of under/over utilisation with the Senior Project Management team
- Work with the Head of Project Management to 'right size’ the team, assisting with recruitment and selection where required
- Take ownership of team training, mentoring, coaching and appraisals for the betterment of their professional development
- Act to motivate the team, helping to address team needs so all individuals can reach their potential
- Act as the first point of contact for Programme / Project Management team resourcing within the business

- **Programme / Project Management key accountabilities**_
**?**Manage programmes/projects as needed by business strategy and:
- Take accountability for planning and execution of assigned programmes/projects according to business and technology strategy
- Proactively promote our values, principles and policies, ensuring that ethical, legal and corporate requirements are applied in all internal and external dealings
- Identify and manage internal and external stakeholders, maintaining a good understanding of their influence and interests; ensuring that confidentiality requirements are maintained at all times
- Identify and secure the internal and external materials, goods, equipment, and facilities required throughout each project, ensuring that procurement schedules are maintained accordingly
- Prepare, issue and obtain approval of the Project Charter in accordance with the our Project Delivery Process; ensure that the Charter is maintained throughout the project life-cycle including the effects of changes in scope, timing and cost
- Ensure project objectives are clear and unambiguous, and that success is defined and achievable
- Deliver projects in accordance with the our Project Delivery Process and in compliance with the our Quality Procedures
- Prepare and maintain project plans, including key milestones and deliverables, ensuring that dependencies and resourcing needs are accurately defined to inform capacity planning activities
- In close cooperation with functional leaders, identify and secure the resources required to deliver the project successfully within the constraints of budget, time and capacity
- Manage internal and external costs through consistent planning and tracking; maintaining accurate variance to plan, forecast and cost to complete information; prepare project summaries as required
- Define, develop and manage the delivery team to achieve all project objectives
- Proactively manage the project risks, recording their identification, quantification and mitigation in the risk register and monitoring them accordingly; know when to escalate risks to senior management
- Prepare and maintain project management reports in accordance with the our reporting framework through regular and structured project reviews
- Identify and manage changes in project scope, timing and cost through the our Change Control Notification process; ensuring that controlled documents (e.g. Project Charter) are updated and approved as required by the process
- Be proactive in resolving conflict to meet the project and corporate objectives; knowing when to escalate issues
- Identify and declare opportunities to share project knowledge and outcomes to benefit our on-going operations; ensure that lessons learnt throughout the project are documented and shared
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to achieve productivity and / or efficiency objectives

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required**:
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline
- Experience of direct project management experience or other role with transferable skills gained in a technical organisation
- Able to give direction, motivation and coaching to team members and provide leadership by example.
- Able to improve team performance, quality and efficiency.
- Understand how to develop and grow high-performing teams.
- Excellent understanding of project management techniques underpinned by technical background
- Experience of project managing or working within technically complex engineering projects from R&D through to start of production/product launch
- Good experience of customer and supplier relationship management
- Ability to adapt rapidly to changing priorities and situations, working in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in the following would also be advantageous:
- MS Project Server
- APM and / or PRINCE2
- Agile project management techniques (i.e., Sprint/Scrum)
- Process development and continuous improvement
