Under this work package the contractor shall provide various education and coordination support services for the ESA European Astronaut Centre, as well as coordinating the Education initiatives of the European Astronaut Centre in Cologne, Germany, in coordination with the ESA Education Office at corporate level.
The position shall support the education initiatives of the European Astronaut Centre, whilst coordinating with the ESA Education Office. The position shall provide education and outreach support services to promote ESA/EAC in the public domain and academia both at external institutions and within ESA. This shall include the initiative to establish a network of academic courses across Europe for the proper development of space professionals. The position shall also provide coordination and liaison services between the ESA/EAC Divisions/Offices for educational outreach activities. The tasks include the implementation of internships as well and practical-year agreements with universities and higher education establishments.

Specific Tasks**:
- Initiate and support the development of academic curricula, including but not limited to the development of space medicine education in Europe, also making use of the European Space Health Academic Network,
- Promote the use of EAC developed training expertise and material for inclusion in academic curricula
- Serve as the ESA/EAC primary point of contact and integrator of activities with the public domain and academia in education and outreach activities and within ESA.

**Requirements**:
- PhD in a Human Health related domain with a minimum of 10 years in higher education for the coordination with universities.
- A background in engineering and/or science applied in space medicine is helpful
- Fluent in English communication skills (writing and speaking), including presentations to large groups
- High level of flexibility and positive attitude towards teamwork
- Ability to excel in a multi-cultural environment
- Ability to maintain high level of organization and efficient output
- Ability to perform efficiently in a multi-disciplinary environment in the fields of medical operations, engineering and science
- Ability to travel independently, both domestically and internationally
- Ability to cope well with stress
- Ability to work well with information technology resources
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with international partners, organizations and academic institutions is necessary
- Experience with formal requirements and organisation of ESA Astronaut and Ground Personnel training is an asset
- Knowledge of German and/or another ESA member state language is an asset
- A background in human physiology and/or human space physiology is an asset
- In depth knowledge of the peculiarities of human space flight, in particular space flight operations is an asset
- Experience in ISS medical systems, ISS medical operations, ISS space flight procedures, space flight communication protocols, and/or ISS Astronaut training lesson design/development/implementation is an asset.
